Keep The Lights On Foundationwas formed after two former veterans realized that
there were many veterans who were struggling during these hard economic times. As
of 2010 it was estimated that over 2.2 million veterans were unemployed with another
2 million under employed. Combine unemployment with the added traumas of returning
from war and veterans are struggling more financially than the average civilian.
While they were able to help a few out of their own pockets they soon realized that
the need was much greater than any one or two people could help without assistance.
Keep The Lights Onis a non-profit foundation with the mission of helping veterans
with a private grant for restoring or keeping their utilities turned on. It will
also help where the veteran is behind in their mortgage payments. It survives solely
on donations which are used to fund the grants.
